Irvine Private Tutor Tips Earn College Credits With CLEP
Irvine Private Tutor Tips Earn College Credits With CLEP CLEP: College Credits for $85 CLEP: College Credits for $85 College can be expensive. You donât have to spend long looking at tuition costs or researching student loans to recognize that education after high school tends to be a costly experience. The average expected expenses at private universities are over $50,000 per year. State schools come in at over $25,000 per year and community colleges at over $17,000 per year (via College Board). There are 44 million Americans with student loans, and the average monthly payment for these students after graduating is around $350 (via the Cleveland Fed). Taking on these costs is not something to be taken lightly. Another factor that isnât often considered by prospective students is the opportunity cost of education. If you are a full-time student, you likely are not also working at a full-time career. The years you spend studying in school are years that you arenât working and making money do well on the CLEP with the help of private Irvine tutoring. With this in mind, it seems obvious that students looking at colleges and degrees should be strongly emphasizing completing their education CHEAPLY and QUICKLY. So, why have most college students never heard of the CLEP exams? CLEP stands for College Level Examination Program The CLEP exams are standardized tests administered by the College Board (the same organization that runs the SAT and AP exams). The purpose of the exams is to test your proficiency in specific college-level subjects. The idea is that if you already know the material of a college class, you can get credit for that class without having to actually take it. The caveat is that you do need to know the material well enough to pass the exam. So what is the main benefit of CLEP exams? They are almost always cost-efficient. A college credit averages around $600 overall. Even just looking at community colleges, credits average $135 (via studentloanhero.com). The CLEP exams usually cost $85 each. Most of the exams grant an equivalency to a 3-credit course. Thatâs 3 credits for only $85. And, most importantly, thatâs one less class that you have to take on your way to your degree. Classes take time, and if you can earn credits with CLEP exams, you can potentially knock out prerequisite courses, meet graduation requirements, and free up time and schedule space to either finish your degree early or work at your job while taking your other classes. Passing five CLEP exams is the credit equivalent to a full-time semester of college classes at a cost of $425. There are 36 different exams to choose from, from accounting to American literature to Spanish to algebra. And remember, you only need to pass the exam â" not ace it. Since the tests are standardized, there are many cases of students getting the equivalent of a âDâ on the test but still receiving passing marks. Colleges donât get to see your score on the exam, only that you successfully passed it. CLEP Opportunities Now, how can you best take advantage of CLEP opportunities? First, check with your school to make sure they will give you credit for the exams. Thousands of colleges in the U.S. accept CLEP exams, including most community colleges. If you are going straight to a private university, however, you are probably out of luck with CLEP unless you transfer from a community college first. Once you have confirmed which tests your school will give you credit for, itâs now time to choose which tests to take and study. Ideally, there will be exams that you already know the subject for very well. In these cases, a quick review might be sufficient to score you a passing grade. However, if you want to take advantage of the exams, you can shoot for tests that you donât know as well. In this case, consider looking for an experienced tutor who can help you choose which tests to take and help you prepare for them. Some tests are easier than you might think (remember, even a âDâ can earn a passing grade on some exams), and a few weeks of focused studying can be enough to earn you college credit and let you skip a semesterâs worth of lectures, homework, and quizzes. CLEP can save you time, money, and stress. One $85 test can help keep you out of the classroom while you continue your education effectively and efficiently. In this article, we will look at some tips for improving chemistry grades. These tips cover the following topics:Biological composition: First, it is important to understand how molecules interact with each other. There are four basic groups that can be defined as components of organic chemistry. The primary reaction mechanism is breaking down compounds to form water and carbon dioxide (CO2).Different groups have different reaction mechanisms. When looking at chemical reactions in this way, students should understand that the molecules of a compound can interact with each other. Each molecule has an energy level that makes it attractive or repulsive to the next. Both the electrons and the hydrogen atoms are attracted to one another.Once an atom or ion has been in contact with an atom or molecule, the other atom or io n is now in the process of creating a chemical bond with the first. The chemical bonds and these bond energies are what giving different molecules their properties. When doing organic chemistry work, a chemistry tutor will be able to find the structures of each individual bond. By understanding the bonds better, students will be able to predict the properties of a given compound.A student who understands the chemistry of chemical bonds will be able to apply it to the problem at hand. Singing Lessons Help Your Speaking Voice Training the Whole Voice
Singing Lessons Help Your Speaking Voice Training the Whole Voice Suzy S. I have been a professional actor-singer all my life, it seems. When I was studying theatre at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County many moons agowe had no voice training as actors. We were often told I cant hear you or Project! or I cant understand what youre saying. But that was the extent of our training. Unfortunately, we had to figure out what to do with those criticisms. I did, however, take singing lessons by a very fine instructor during my university days. I learned how to use my voice very effectivelyas a singer, and occasionally found myself observing that my speaking voice was receiving some benefit from that singing training, too, but I didnt know quite how. It wasnt until I went to graduate school at the Dallas Theater Center that something revolutionary happened to my voice and my attitude towards my use of itboth as a speaker and a singer. What I discovered was that the focus and resonance I had learned as a singer was no different that what was needed for an effective speaking voice as well. I discovered that the difference between singing and speaking is one of dynamic rangethe highs and lows, the sustention of notes beyond what would be considered as speaking is more extravagant, but the training should be the same. The instrument being used is the same, the most intimate instrument that we play, because it is produced solely from within. If we begin to think of our speaking and singing voices as one and the same, we can apply all the rich, focused vibrations we learn to produce while singing directly to our speaking voice. Breath does not control the tonal quality of the speaking/singing voicethat is produced by working as if were not using any breath at all. Of course, we need a constant supply of breath to create the vibration of the vocal folds, but after that breath stream becomes a sound stream, its up to resonance and wave reflection to take over. The sound is conducted through the bones of the face and head. So, when we learn to focus that sound stream onto the hard palate, and upwards into the nasal bone, forehead and craniumwe produce a beautiful unforced resonant qualityespecially when we also create a more generous open cavity in the mouth. So whats to stop us from speaking the way we sing? Try this experiment: Create your own little melody in your mid-range for this phrase: This is the way to feel the focus. Focus your voice (by thinking it there!) onto the hard palate as you do this rather slowly. Then speak the line while maintaining that feel of the vibration on your hard palate, sailing up into your head (hopefully). Dont you enjoy that placement, that richness of tone? It can be yours for the askingwhen you have the feel of singing while you speak! So, dont be satisfied with a singing voice that works one wayand a speaking voice that is lodged in the back of your throat, raspy, or of another sort of poor quality. Lets not leave the speaking voice out of the quality equation. Train the whole voice by remembering to always have a little song in your speech, and a little speech in your song! Mayhap, youâre reading this while enjoying your favourite cuppa. Sounds relaxing! You know what else is relaxing? Working with clay!Itâs true! One may go so far as to say that the spinning of the potterâs wheel, the feel of earthen materials taking shape beneath your hands; even the warmth of the kiln is, in fact, quite therapeutic. Not that anyone is implying that you need any type of therapy, but consider for a moment how stressful life can be in todayâs hurrying, pulsing driving times... especially in our super-busy city!Letâs forget about that line of discussion and talk about your cuppa or, more specifically, your cup.Humans being creatures of habit, it is quite possible that you too have your favourite mug to drink out of and, should it be unavailable for any reason, your morning brew wonât taste quite right. That doesnât exactly argue for the idea of taking pottery classes to make âfavourite mugsâ for everyone you know â" if weâre all creatures of habit, it would logically follow that anyone you made a mug for would not give up their favoured one so quickly... right?Fortunately, pottery classes are not limited to the creation of mugs. You might turn vases, bowls, plates, accent pieces made of refined raku clay; you could try your hand at ceramic sculpture or the curious art of handbuilding â" making pottery the way our ancestors did, without a pottery wheel.Whether coiling, pinching or wheel throwing â" using a pottery wheel, nobody has ever found a ceramics class disturbing; in fact, what they might have planned as a fun weekend activity has blossomed into a full-on hobby.Whether youâre looking for adult classes for you and your partner or kidsâ classes to give your restless little one(s) a creative outlet, Birmingham has a long list of classes and clay artists keen to share their skills with you.We even found s ome parent and child classes you might be interested in!Let us not tarry in making our report; surely youâll want to get into the ceramic arts as quickly as possible. However, more pertinent to Birmingham is her Chinese twin city, Xi'an - where the Terracotta Warriors were discovered. They too were worked from slabs of clay and later moulded into an army of soldiers, each with a distinctly different appearance. You might think weâre getting far ahead of ourselves in mentioning all of the ways you might work with clay but, really, weâre not: all of these courses and more are on offer at The MAC; you only need to choose where to start.Oh, and you might want to bring an apron, just in case... clay work can be messy. The only downside we could find to the pottery course offerings at the Mac is that there are hardly any classes for children; most are open only to people over the age of 18.Plenty of pottery classes in London are open to young children but they are mostly at independent studios.Letâs go find some of them in Birmingham!Sun dragon Community PotteryThe name itself should give a clue that children are welcome here â" arenât they a part of the community? Before going over Sundragonâs courses let us talk about their genesis and why they are so determined to welcome everyone today and in the future. You might know that Birmingham is nicknamed âThe Workshop of the Worldâ for a reason. Not too far from us, in Stoke on Trent, pottery was an industrial-scale business.Of course, that was during the Industrial Revolution and throughout the Victorian Era, when companies such as Royal Doulton and Spode supplied the finest estates with top of the line bone china and porcelain products. These days, people are not concerned about new china patterns Image by Brett Hondow from PixabayObviously, those companies still exist and turn out exquisite pieces but fine china no longer has the place it did in society, does it?As it happens with social trends, people turned away â" both from the keen anticipation of a new chinaware collection and of pottery in general. There is a school of thought that said artisan pottery could not compete with the great names...Through this general turn-away, many community studios lost their funding and many dedicated ceramic artists had nowhere to practise their craft... until they got together and pledged to make pottery-making accessible to all. They would do that both through fundraising and offering courses in pottery. Now in their sixth year, Sundragon Pottery remains open to anyone, whether they are only possessed of a mild curiosity for ceramic sculpture or they are full-on pros; indeed there are classes for anyone along that spectrum.Ta ke their Parent and Child classes on Thursdays, from 1 to 3 in the afternoon, with the last 30 minutes dedicated to cleaning up â" we have to teach youngsters good habits! This is a 6-week course designed to get you and your little one familiar with working clay. Rather than sitting at a pottery wheel, you will work with slabs of clay, cutting and coiling it... whatever you need to make the piece you envision.Naturally, you will have guidance; each week you/your child will learn a new technique or skill that you can use to make your ceramic creation even better. Here are some other classes offered at Sundragon Pottery (that donât involve children):Throwing Large Vessels: a masterclass for the experienced potterSunday Morning Pottery: for beginners and improvers â" those that already have some skill at pottery but want to learn moreWednesday Evening Wheelwork: also for beginners and improversOne to One Wheel Work: as the name implies, your instructor will focus exclusively on your wheel skillsPottery for Beginners and Improvers: class meets on Tuesdays, in the eveningNow that youâre nearly mad for pottery, no need to scour the Internet for pottery classes near me; weâve listed Sundragon and other studios we thought youâd like at the end of this article.Tribe Pottery StudioLetâs assume the kids are now in bed and it is time for you to have a bit of fun. Would you find it odd that we would suggest a pottery event at Tribe?Tribe offers many pottery taster courses; essentially they consist of a two-hour session of working with clay. You and five of your mates may work the clay by hand or choose the potterâs wheel. On the other hand, if youâd rather not indulge your quest for clay with any besties, you might try their wheel-throwing taster; two blissful hours of nothing between you and your clay but the wheel.Naturally, you get to keep what you make... but you will have to return in about 6-8 weeks to pick it up. Two hours is not nearly enough for finis hing and glazing a piece; it wonât even be ready to hit the kilns in that short time! They also offer couplesâ classes; still within the 2-hour format but this time, with your significant other at your side. When we were looking at pottery classes in Leeds, we couldnât find anything similar to them. Ceramics work is not limited to cups and plates; you could also make figurines Image by Gerhard Gellinger from PixabayThe Midlands Potterâs AssociationWith our regionâs history as the worldâs workshop and pottery featuring so prominently, it stands to reason that the Midlands would have an association of potters to promote their craft. This non-profit group wants nothing more than to provide a way for artists and artisans to share ideas, building techniques and experiences of working with clay. They spotlight artists and showcase their work â" your work, should you join them, coordinate demonstrations and sponsor exhibitions, and, yes, they even hold meetings. These are not musty meetings where old business and new business would be discussed; instead, these avid potters get together to show off new pieces they might have just finished, swap tips and tricks and, once per year, to pit fire.If you wanted to join them for that momentous event, you should do so quickly; itâs due to take place soon!Just as our northern neighbours have their Scottish Pottery Association that lists pottery classes in Glasgow or Edinburgh, Midlands Potters have a full page of every ceramic studio in the region that offers pottery classes.Their more thorough listings certainly complement the studios weâve seen, even better than when we were looking for pottery classes in Manchester...Contact information for Midlands-area pottery lessonsNamePhysical AddressPhone NumberWeb AddressSundragon Pottery in the Old Printworks506 Moseley Road Balsall Heath Birmingham B12 9AH0759 040 2633https://sundragonpottery.co.ukTribe Pottery The Lakeside Centre, Entrance A 180 Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, Birmingham, B30 3NU0797 697 2628www.tribepottery.com/bookHoneybourne Pottery Studio3 High St, Honeybourne, Evesham WR11 7PQ0793 140 4761www.honeybournepottery.co.ukMidlands Art CentreCannon Hill Park, Birmingham, B12 9QH0121 446 3232https://macbirmingham.co.ukMidlands Potters' AssociationMultiple add resses in and around the MidlandsMultiple phone numberswww.midlandspotters.co.uk
